【國際志工系列講座】兩岸三地合開社會企業：泰緬邊境的素眸Somont

在香港讀書、來自兩岸三地的大學生，在泰緬邊境的美拉難民營發起了一項藝術賦權及公平貿易的計畫，稱做「素眸(Somont)」。他們希望幫助當地學校ALCC的學生團結在一起，獨立為學校募款。
「素眸」計畫負責指導當地學生親自參與設計製作、營銷創意和財務管理，協助將產品在大陸、香港和台灣行銷。產出的利潤將全部捐獻用於學校建設。
Somont一詞來自克倫語，意為「獨立」、「批判性思考」，翻譯成「素眸」，意謂素淨的眼眸，也可以說是「與素未謀面的人的結緣」。「素眸」這個合作經營品牌的計畫，希望讓當地青年用自己的雙手和頭腦為學校募款，同時決定自己的命運。

Somont is a long term Fair Trade and Empowerment project at Thai-Myanmar border founded by a group of Hong Kong University students, aiming to empower a group of teachers and students in ALCC School of Mae La Refugee Camp. The aim of this project is to encourage staffs and students of ALCC to cooperate in running a social business self-sustainably in supporting the good of their own school, work includes Accounting, Designing and Making, and Marketing and Storytelling. Products and stories from ALCC would be marketed and retailed in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan.
An idea emerged from the ALCC students, Somont means “independence” and “critical thinking” in S’gaw Karen Language. It is hoped that teachers and students from Mae La Refugee Camp would believe that they are capable of supporting their own school and determine their fate with their own hands and minds without fully depending on humanitarian aid.
【講者介紹】
李曉晴，在香港大學修讀文學和法律。一直嚮往到所謂的發展中國家體驗，去了泰緬邊境才發現，「發展」這兩字背後藏了許多我們的驕傲和偏見。
戴思潔，香港大學社會學系畢業。台中出生，從小隨媽媽在泰國曼谷生活，大學去到泰緬邊境做志工，重新確認泰國是自己的家。
