【講座簡介】
Shivaji Das為印度裔新加坡籍的旅遊文學作家,也是新加坡及馬來西亞兩地的客工詩文比賽創辦者。

本次演講,Shivaji將分享他在印尼書寫的旅行文學作品和其創作經歷,包括他在印尼當地觀察的葬禮儀式、Flores和Sumba部落之間的衝突、傑尼彭托(Jeneponto)鹽礦工人起伏不定的工作週期、萬隆街頭音樂家的夢想等等。

【講者簡介】
Shivaji Das(希瓦吉·達斯)
是三本旅行回憶錄和攝影書的作者,2015年創辦新加坡客工詩文比賽,2016年創辦馬來西亞客工詩文比賽,今年更協助孟加拉移工創辦新加坡第一間「移工圖書館」(Migrant Library)。

Shivaji的作品發表於TIME(時代雜誌)、BBC、Economist(經濟學人雜誌)、Asian Geographic(亞洲地理雜誌),目前在新加坡擔任管理諮詢顧問。

Shivaji Das畢業於印度頂尖理工大學IIT,獲總理提名進入世界頂尖商學院IIM,並在挪威留學。Frost & Sullivan的合夥人,作有遊記《跟著毛毛蟲去旅行》。

Writer, traveller, and photographer; Shivaji Das is the author of ‘Off the Beaten Track: Collecting Stories of Unheard Lives,’ Yoda Press (under publication), ‘Journeys with the caterpillar: Travelling through the islands of Flores and Sumba, Indonesia,’ and ‘Sacred Love: Erotic art in the temples of Nepal,’ Mandala Publications/ Adarsh Books. Shivaji is the conceptualizer and lead organizer for the acclaimed Migrant and Refugee Poetry Contests in Singapore and Malaysia.

Shivaji’s writings and work with migrants have been published in journals and shows such as TIME, The Economist, BBC, South China Morning Post, Reuters, Asian Geographic, Venture Mag, Jakarta Post, The Straits Times, Daily Nation (Kenya), Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, Conscious Magazine, PanaJournal, Freethinker, etc. He has been featured in literary festivals in Botswana, Japan, Singapore, Georgetown (Malaysia), Cebu (The Philippines), and Hyderabad (India). He has given talks on topics ranging from Travel Writing, Humour, and Migrant issues. His photographs in collaboration with his wife, Yolanda Yu, have been exhibited in the Darkroom Gallery, Vermont (USA), Kuala Lumpur International Photography Festival (Malaysia), the Arts House (Singapore), and the National Library (Singapore).

Shivaji Das was born and brought up in the north-eastern province of Assam in India. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, subsequent to which he completed his post-graduation from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta. He is presently working as a management consultant in Singapore.
